PROVENCE you made dream come then in Vaucluse, one of six departments of the region P.A.C.A (Provence, the Alps, the French Riviera) where all the savours of Provence meet themselves : cherry trees, olive trees, cicadas, aromatic smells, vineyards, scrublands, colored lands...

You will stay in a renovated farm, situated on the municipality of Saumane-de-Vaucluse, at 5 km of Isle-sur-la-sorgue and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. See map for details.

You will take advantage of an open view on the mountains of Vaucluse and Luberon and a privileged situation in the heart of a domain of 6 hectares of wood and orchards no neighbourhood, quiet insurant and a landscape of which you will not grow tired of.

You will be amazed at all the Mediterranean flora: pines of Alep, holm oaks, cistes, rosemary, arbousiers, etc....

Vaucluse, of Vallis Clausa, valley closes where from springs the mysterious Fountain of Vaucluse which irrigates of its Sorgues the plains of Comtat.

The Rhone on the West, the valley of Durance in the South is bounded by the valley of and the foothills of the Alps, consisted of the massifs of the Mountain Ventoux and of the Laces of Montmirail, in the East. It is crossed by the chain of Luberon and the Mountains of Vaucluse.

Its climate is of Mediterranean type: been relatively warm and dry, sweet and sunny winter. Winds dominating from the western North to the North.

It is an ground of scoops (cherries, strawberries, melons), but also the soil of the Coasts of the Rhone, Coasts of Ventoux and the Coasts of Luberon.

Its vegetation consists of 1800 sorts, which are more than 40 % of the French flora, on 1/160th of the surface of France.

TOURISM:

Our region is rich in sites to be visited. Indeed, Vaucluse, tourist department, offers itself a surprising cultural patrimony among which the numerous museums and the castles are made witnesses.

L'Isle sur la Sorgue

 

Let us begin with the ISLE SUR LA SORGUE. We call it "Venice Comtadine" due to its numerous canals which go through it, stepped over small bridges and over gear wheels in mossy dawns.

City of Art and Antiques, its fairs in the second-hand trade of Easter, Pentecost and of August 15th, are considered all over the world.

Every Thursday and Sunday mornings, you can go and shop at the Provençal market.

The summer, numerous animations are proposed. Especially, in July, with its Festival of Sorgue (Isle, Saumane, Lagnes, Fountain) where the spectacles, the concerts are offered. And in August, you will attend its parade and floating market.

To SAUMANE-DE-VAUCLUSE, small Provençal village perched on its cliff, you will be enchanted with its protected authenticity (684 living).

At a height of 230 m, you can admire its Castle fortress of XIVth (private), its church, its (XIIth) donjon.

 

La Fontaine de Vaucluse

 

To FONTAINE-DE-VAUCLUSE, you will be amazed by the sensational beauty of the site which inspired writers of good name such François Pétrarque, Frédéric Mistral or René Char. Her source in the emerald green water is classified among the most important exurgencies of the world. The abyss where from it pours in period of high tides is situated at feet of an abrupt cliff of 230 m. All the year round, secondary sources feed Sorgue.

 

 

Another magnificent place is the LUBERON: magic earth because multiple. It distinguishes itself by the variety of its landscaped, natural and cultural patrimony.

Classified REGIONAL NATURAL RESERVE, UNESCO made one of 350 reserves of biosphere of the planet.

Its picturesque villages are not to be missed : Gordes, Oppède, Bonnieux, Ménerbes... Roussillon, Rustrel and Provençal Colorado (careers of ochre)
